Golf "Fore" ALS

Victims of ALSTen years ago at the Walk to Defeat ALS®, Chris Bluemle ran into Joe Susan, a friend from high school. Even though Joe had attended the funeral of Chris' mother just three years prior, he was unaware that she had passed away from ALS. Now, both Joe and Chris were there walking for their mothers, with Joe's just recently diagnosed. It was in this moment that they knew this tragedy the had endured would forever link them together. Sadly, the loss of their mothers has brought them together. But today, they host Golf Fore ALS to raise money and create awareness in the memory of their mothers.

About ALS

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal, progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. People with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, leading to total paralysis. Life expectancy is typically two to five years after diagnosis. There is no cure and only two drugs approved by the FDA that modestly extends survival and slow the progression of symptoms. For unknown reasons, Veterans are twice as likely to be diagnosed with ALS.
